The Sunnah of prayer includes numerous aspects such as verbal and physical actions. It refers to what constitutes the pillars and obligations. Some scholars have categorized the Sunnah into seventeen verbal and fifty physical actions. The prayer is not invalidated by omitting a Sunnah, even intentionally. However, neglecting pillars or obligations does invalidate the prayer. The difference between a pillar and an obligation is that a pillar cannot be disregarded, whether intentionally or unintentionally, it must be fulfilled. On the other hand, an obligation can be missed and compensated for with prostration of forgetfulness.
