I am a girl over 14 years old, I want to inquire about the condition: I used to practice masturbation for two years and I stopped it for a while, and I did not know that what comes out after it, or when waking up from sleep requires ghusl. But I learned that from your site, and I want to know if all my previous prayers are invalid? And what should I do in terms of expiation and similar matters regarding wet dreams since I did not know what a wet dream is? And I still do not understand the meaning of a wet dream and its implications and how it occurs. How can I know that I had a wet dream?

As for after: Ghusl is not obligatory merely due to wet dreams or practicing masturbation, but it is required when the seminal fluid exits. You may refer to fatwas regarding this matter, and if you are certain that semen has exited, then you must perform ghusl, and your prayers without it are invalid. If you doubt whether it is semen or not, you may choose based on what you find most suitable; refer to fatwa number: 118035. A wet dream being a vision where one sees the act of having sexual relations. It is not something that happens to every person, and we recommend you avoid whispers, and it is not obligatory to perform ghusl unless you are certain that it has exited from you. What is done upon awakening is explained in fatwa number: 128637. It is important also to be aware of the external discharge that comes from the vagina and the ruling on each, refer to fatwa number: 90938.
