Praise be to Allah. Firstly: Homosexuality is a great and serious crime from the major sins. There is no doubt that the action of the people of Lot was a major sin, and one of the most contemptible of sins. Allah destroyed the people of Lot because they persisted in this evil deed, and indulged in it despite the various punishments that awaited them. It has previously been indicated in some of our responses, i.e. (21466), (21723), (21589). It is forbidden to aid this great sin, or participate in its spread, or support its perpetrators, materially or morally; for this contributes to spreading corruption and immorality on earth, which are among the reasons for destruction and punishment for nations, societies, and individuals. Allah has forbidden cooperating in wrongdoing; as He said: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in punishment." [Al-Ma'idah: 2]. It has been stated by the Prophet (peace be upon him) that the one who advocates wrongdoing will bear the consequence of it, as will the one who acts upon it. And if I were to mention the punishments of the people of Lot – peace be upon him – it would be enough evidence of that. There is different rulings for the involvement with companies that support homosexuality. If their products have alternative options that do not advocate homosexuality, it would be a distinct advantage to avoid it. However, if their products are beneficial and cannot be done without, despite such products being allowed in themselves, it does not make it a sin.
